"Then the first dwarf looked about and saw that there was a slight hollow in his bed, so he asked, 'Who has been lying in my little bed?'"
The Story
Taking place in the middle of winter when the snowflakes fell like feathers from the sky, there was a queen who gave birth to a daughter with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood and hair has black as ebony. They named her Snow White. Unfortunately, the queen died as soon as the child was born. The king eventually had a another wife who was beautiful, but was proud and conceited and despises anyone that surpasses her beauty. She had a mirror that always told her the truth. Always she would ask the mirror "Little glass upon the wall, Who is the fairest of us all?" The mirror would then reply, "Lady queen, so grand and tall, Thou art the fairest of them all."
Years pass and Snow White was now seven years old and grew more beautiful everyday. When the queen asked the mirror the same question she became angry when the mirror replied that Snow White was fairer than her. She couldn't bear it so she hired a huntsman to kill Snow White and bring her heart back to her.
When the huntsman left to do as the queen wishes, Snow White begged for her life. The huntsman felt sorry and spared her dear life. Instead the huntsman killed a wild beast and brought its heart to the queen. The wicked queen thinking it was Snow White's heart ate it.
Alone and in need of shelter, Snow White found a little house, but didn't know it belonged to seven little dwarfs. When the dwarfs came home they allowed Snow White to stay if she will cook and clean their house. Snow White agreed and in time they found happiness living with one another.
The queen then discovered that Snow White was indeed still alive when she asked the mirror the same question once more. She mischievously set out her plans to kill Snow White herself. She tried by suffocating her with lace, poisoning her with a comb and when those didn't work, eventually she made Snow White eat a poisoned apple she created.
Snow White fell into a deep sleep, thought to be dead and since the seven dwarfs cared for her so, they placed her body in a glass coffin and displayed her in the forest. As she lay there for years unchanged, Snow White was still as white as snow, with lips as red as blood and hair as black as ebony.
One day, as a young prince wandered around the forest, he saw the beautiful Snow White. He asked the dwarfs for her, but refused. The dwarfs took pity in him soon and let the prince have Snow White. As the prince was returning with his servants carrying the coffin, they stumbled on a bush and the poisoned apple was forced out of Snow White's throat. She awakened and the prince asked her to be his wife.
The queen found out that Snow White was still alive when the mirror told her that she wasn't the fairest of them all anymore. She was invited to the wedding, but met her end when she was given hot, burning iron shoes to wear and dance at Snow White's special day or to leave and never be seen again.
